On Amazon's Kindle - Formal

There are a number of devices that have been created for the sole purpose of reading books in electronic format, and one of the best devices created for this purpose is the Amazon Kindle. The Kindle was first released in November 2007, and within the first six hours stores were completely sold out of the devices. In fact, the device was so popular that every version of the device was sold, and the stores remained Kindle-free until April of the next year.

The first generation Kindle only sold within the U.S., but the second generation of the Amazon device went international in October of 2009. As a promotional gimmick, internationally acclaimed author Stephen King released a book that was only available for download via the Kindle Store. The Kindle continued to be sought after internationally, and the sales of the Kindle has continued to remain fairly steady despite the numerous devices launched by its competitors.

On Hosting providers - Conversational

The really bizarre part of it was they didn not bother informing anyone they were going to jump ship and leave everyone prone to complete loss of data once the server went offline.

They simply carried on like everything was peachy, billed you at the 1st of the month, and then completely flipped the switch on the server 14 days later.

You would assume that since it was a US-based hosting provider you would be less prone to something like this happening. Not so!

(This is primarily for non-shared dedicated services, which are usually a bit more expensive than an average shared environment hosting provider)

-No phone number to call. This of course is just my opinion. This is not to say that there are not good providers who successfully conduct their entire customer support via a help desk. I just think it is odd for a company not to provide the means to be able to call and speak to someone when you have an issue. Oh, and if you happen to stumble upon a phone number and get a fella on the other end who says "Hi, this is Peggy" in a man's voice, slam the phone down and look some place else!

Introduction to Operations Management - Technical

Operations management involves the production of services and goods by organizations. Each book borrowed from a library, each service you have come to expect in stores, and even each treatment received at a doctor's office has in some way been produced. Essentially, the nature of Operations Management deals with organizing the processes of getting things done. An operation is the process of taking resources or inputs and converting them into goods or services. The input resources can include information or it may be raw materials. Each resource is transformed into final services or goods using other transforming resources - the staff of the operation and the facilities of operation.
